Housing society that removed flat owner’s name plate told to pay

MUMBAI: Refusing to mention a flat owner’s name on the building’s display board to get back at him for making complaints of fraud against it, has cost a Kandivli housing society heavy. NG Suncity Phase 2 Co-operative Housing Society Ltd will have to pay Rs 55,000 compensation for the mental agony and stress it caused Anil Kumar  Jalani. 

In a recent order, the Maharashtra  Consumer Disputes Commission said, “We think that this grievance of the complainant is tenable, as the name of each of the occupant of the building, as a flat purchaser needs to be mentioned in the list of flat purchasers by the society on the display board or list exhibited for visitors to take note of the occupants in the building.” Read More...
